Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Planner for immediate employment in either Oakland or San Francisco, CA. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Analyze and write environmental impacts from project activities to complete environmental documents

  • Assist on a variety of environmental studies for infrastructure projects including power, water, transportation, and development-related projects in Northern California

  • Support senior management with business development and responding to proposals

  • Manage small or medium-sized projects and serve as a deputy project manager or task lead on larger, more complex projects

  • Oversee the work of others and mentor others

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning or related field

  • 5+ years' experience successfully supporting or managing CEQA/NEPA documents and associated technical studies

  • Experience as Project Manager or Deputy Manager roles on environmental planning projects

  • Experience preparing CEQA and/or NEPA environmental documents with extensive knowledge of current regulations and guidance

  • Understanding of the environmental regulatory framework in California, including applicable state and federal laws

  • Strong research and analytical abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports

  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

  • Actively participated in management of environmental projects including client interaction, schedule and budget controls, and invoicing

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working with private developers, municipal, state or federal governments on environmental documents and permits; experience working with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission or other City and County of San Francisco agencies preferred

  • Experience interacting with regulatory agency representatives in Northern California
