AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Fire Protection Engineer for immediate employment for the Norfolk, VA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Code consultation for both internal and external customers on the proper and appropriate application of fire protection and life safety requirements
Design review services for new construction, renovation and modification projects, for compliance with applicable fire protection and life safety requirements
Conduct inspection and survey services of various types of facilities to ensure that the facility meets applicable fire protection and life safety requirements
Serve as lead fire protection engineer for fire protection and multi-discipline projects
Assist with miscellaneous services that require the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Access
Assist with the development of fire protection reports, studies, designs, training, presentations and classes
10+ years' relevant experience
Registration as a Professional Engineer
Familiarity with hydraulic calculation and design (2-D and 3-D) software systems
Proficient with development of drawings, specifications, hydraulic calculations, reports, and design analyses
Ability to lead meetings with clients, code officials, and other project stakeholders to negotiate / resolve fire protection and / or life safety code issues
Ability to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally in support of project requirements
Effective communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Articulate with professional presence, solid decision-making, planning, and organizational skills
Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
Must have a valid driver’s license
US citizen eligible to meet US federal government security background check (Facility Security Clearance obtained through the Defense Security Service
- Sound technical knowledge of DoD and UFC code requirements as well as the applicable NFPA and ICC codes and standards for fire protection and life safety criteria
