Job Summary

The AECOM Management Services Internship Program is designed to engage college students in the practical application of a major administrative or technical study and to familiarize the intern with the interactions and requirements of the industry. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. AECOM has internship positions in support of Navy’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center. Interns will be working alongside subject matter experts on U.S. Naval Ship engineering systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Engineering Intern to assist an experienced Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), in Norfolk, VA. Subject Matter Expert ( SME) with naval ship board engineering system failure investigations and analysis,

  2. Performance analysis, troubleshooting of engineering systems, as well as repairs and equipment testing.

  3. Perform/assist with test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks. Perform validations/ verifications of various electronic systems.

  4. Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions.

  5. Implement technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical drawing updates, operating procedures, and maintainability improvements.

  6. Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise.

  7. Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.

  8. Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • College student with a minimum of 90 credits towards a Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural Degree

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

Following specialized experience a plus:

  • Knowledge of Calculus, college level physics, and a basic CAD programs, such as Autocad, Auto Desk Inventor, or Sketchup

  • Ability to utilize computers including Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information

  • This is a temporary/summer time position

  • Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, which requires US citizenship

  • Position may require travel
