Job Summary

Aircrew Survival Equipment Technician II manage, performs, and schedules inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned aircrew flight equipment (AFE), associated supplies, and inventories assets. Inspects, maintains, packs and adjusts aircrew flight equipment such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, medical first aid kits, helmet mounted devices, aircrew eye and respiratory protective equipment, protective oxygen masks, anti-exposure assemblies and flight coveralls, and other types of aircrew flight equipment. Repairs fabric and rubber components, including protective clothing, flotation equipment, and A/P22P-20 parachutes. Evaluates problems and determines feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes. Evaluates work orders for fabrication of authorized items. : Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS) maintenance in support of activities assigned aircraft, and staff/student flight designated personnel.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  1. Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 40 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

  2. Manages, performs, and schedules inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned aircrew flight equipment (AFE), associated supplies, and inventories assets.

  3. Inspects, maintains, packs and adjusts aircrew flight equipment such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, protective oxygen masks, anti-exposure assemblies and flight coveralls, and other types of aircrew flight equipment.

  4. Repairs fabric and rubber components, including protective clothing, flotation equipment, and A/P22P-20 parachutes.

  5. Evaluates problems and determines feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes. Evaluates work orders for fabrication of authorized items.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred and 3 years of job related experience required.

• Position requires prior completion of PR “A” School.

• Knowledge of applicable technical directives, related publications and safety regulations is required.

• Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance and may be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.

• Position requires travel.

• Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

• Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

• May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
