Job Summary

AECOM tunneling group designs tunnels and large underground structures for water, wastewater, and transportation projects. The group is currently working on some of the largest underground construction projects under design and construction in the USA. AECOM seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer to join their team of experienced tunneling and geotechnical professionals in New York. This role offers potential for career growth, and the opportunity to work on major underground projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation of ground conditions and geotechnical parameters for design

  • Calculations for excavation support and underground structure design

  • Development of design drawings and specifications

  • Site inspections and submittal reviews during construction

  • Numerical modeling analysis for design of the excavation supports

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering

  • 10 + years of related experience in tunnel structures design or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Strong technical expertise in the design and construction of tunnels, shafts, and other similar underground structures

  • Proven ability to write technical memoranda and engineering and geotechnical reports

  • Experience with 2D and 3D geotechnical/structural modeling utilizing analysis software including MIDAS GTS NX, Plaxis 2D, Plaxis 3D, UDEC and 3DEC
