Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a full-time Resident Construction Engineer professional for the successful and expanding Transportation Business Line in our New York, New York office location.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provides professional engineering services on projects and acts as client’s representative in the field interacting with client (end user), contractor and other external parties

  • Oversees field site activities and provides technical advice on construction and design

  • Using advanced knowledge in engineering principles, responds to Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractor by interpreting plans and specifications

  • Discusses deviations from specified construction materials and procedures with engineer of record or supervisor

  • Determines requirements for work-arounds and remedial corrective actions

  • Regularly reviews, signs, and seals engineering plans and reviews and approves contract submittals and payment applications to contractors

  • Leads on-site inspectors who observe work in progress and document conformance to quality, performance, safety and code requirements and maintains inspection records

  • Conducts regular project review sessions with appropriate personnel to monitor the continuing progress of the project

  • Examines workmanship of finished installations for standard conformity and approves installation

  • Completes contract close-out processes

  • Implements and follows project and company safety procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent

  • 5+ years of progressive construction management/resident engineering experience

  • Previous NYCDDC experience, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed as a registered Professional Engineer (PE)

  • OSHA training
