Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer III for immediate employment in the New York, NY office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the design of projects from conception through construction for small and large projects

  • Prepares calculations, reports, and specifications

  • Provides a high level of technical leadership in plumbing and fire protection designs

  • Performs fire suppression system selection and prepare designs

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works

  • Coordinates work with other disciplines; capable of directing, guiding, and quality review of one or more engineers or designers

  • Performs site visits

  • Attends client meetings to represent discipline on project

  • Responsible for interdisciplinary coordination and review

  • Responsible for collaboration and communication with project managers and discipline manager

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Use of engineering production software including AutoCAD, MS Office

  • 5+ years of experience in consulting engineering

  • Experience involving the design of automatic sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems, clean agent suppression systems

  • Experience with the design of waste and vent, domestic hot and cold water, storm water, gas services

  • Maintain current knowledge in codes and standards particularly New York City Codes and International Building Codes

  • Maintain current knowledge of NFPA standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License is preferred

  • Experience with New York City Agency (DDC, EDC, MTA, etc.) projects

  • Experience with FDNY

  • Experience with NYC DEP

  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and Elite Fire

  • Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus but not a requirement
