AECOM is seeking a dynamic Manager of Media Relations to plan, develop and execute both U.S.-based and enterprise-wide media relations programs. Reporting to the Director of Media Relations, this role will provide support across business groups and functional areas and partner with internal stakeholders in a matrix organization.
Candidates must possess excellent storytelling and writing skills along with the acumen to advise internal/external clients on communications strategies and initiatives as well as contribute to crisis management and response. With long term goals in mind, will develop plans, messaging and tactics with an understanding of business objectives through:
Developing and executing public relations plans for key AECOM initiatives.
Securing media profiles, inclusion in trend stories and coverage of AECOM business leaders, journalists, projects and services by building strategic relationships with key stakeholders across all media channels.
Seizing opportunities to position key executives as experts on industry issues, addressing hot topics and significant news.
Bringing best practices to manage and guide the public relations team.
Demonstrating progress and measuring effectiveness of global communications plans to the business through presentations and reports.
Collaborating with the Enterprise Communications Team and the organization’s global marketing and communications network.
Managing strategic enterprise reputation programs including surveys and awards programs both within and beyond the industry.
Developing press releases and other communications vehicles to deliver news externally (e.g., pitches, backgrounders, press releases, key messages and blog posts).
Overseeing incoming media inquiries, global media relations calendar, media relations processes and press release approvals.
Providing strategic support for crisis communications and issues management.
Serving as spokesperson as supervised by Communications leadership and coordinate official response to media inquiries.
Assisting in managing public relations agency activities.
Five to seven years of public relations experience agency and/or in-house environments with a proven history of working with/pitching reporters.
Successful track record of creating, implementing and managing programs and campaigns with measurable results.
Proven ability to lead initiatives, handle multiple projects simultaneously and have a critical eye for detail while ensuring deadlines are met.
Effective command of language and writing (communications plans, press materials, executive messaging/presentations, etc.).
Innovative, creative, proactive and confident thinker with extensive experience in issues management.
Proactive, energetic and engaging with the ability to positively motivate, lead, coach and develop the members of the media relations team.
Capable of building rapport, establishing credibility and working collaboratively across functions, business groups and geographies.
Degree in communications or related field.
Knowledge of financial statements/reporting or investor relations.
Passion for effective and influential B2B social media campaigns.
- Solid contacts in areas of infrastructure, urbanization, real estate and financial reporters.
