Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation business line for the Gulf Coast area. The qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in creating designs for roadways associated with transportation projects. As an AECOM Roadway Design Engineer, you can look forward to projects that will include various assignments for the City of New Orleans, the Louisiana Department of Transportation Department (LaDOTD), and others. You will be responsible for developing strong working relationships with Clients and staff, expected to maintain a high level of project standards, and meeting or striving to exceed Client expectations. The location for this position is for our New Orleans office; however, working from our Baton Rouge office is an option for the ideal candidate.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform roadway design and production for transportation projects, including calculations and plans preparation

  • Assist in the development of roadway geometrics, pavement design, and preparation of quantities

  • Work under the direction of senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related field

  • 5+ years of engineering experience

  • P.E. license, state of Louisiana

  • Experience in sequence of construction plans and traffic handling plans

  • Understanding of applicable policies, methods, practices, and procedures

  • Familiar with AutoCAD and/or Microstation, drainage design/calculations, roadway geometrics, specifications and quantity take-offs

Prior experience as Roadway Engineer on transportation projects:

  1. Roadway design

  2. Hydraulics analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the following:

  1. Sequence of construction plans

  2. Traffic handling plans

  3. InRoads modeling

  4. Familiarity with Federal, LA DOTD and City of New Orleans requirements

  5. Utility layout

  6. Plan Change Preparation

  7. Construction invoicing

  8. Sewerage & Water Board specifications
