Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Lead Pipeline Mapper/Designer for employment in our New Orleans, LA office.This position is contingent upon contract award with an anticipated hire date in August 2017.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

This position involves the development, design, drafting, mapping, and modeling of pipeline projects.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, completes design assignments of limited complexity.

  • Applies a solid level of understanding within the pipeline mapping discipline.

  • Work to project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Coordinate work with that of others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project.

  • Prepare complete information for design details, bills of material, etc., that can be distributed to other design or draft personnel for completion.

  • Understand the project scope as presented within a specific discipline.

  • Ensure that designs are consistent with project technical requirements and scope.

  • Provide support for client's engineering deliverables.

  • Advise the Design Supervisor or Supervising Discipline Engineer about the status of assignments with respect to schedule, budgets, delays, and problems.

  • Check assigned drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and other discipline groups throughout the project to ensure quality designs.

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to other design and draft personnel and be responsible for neatness and accuracy of work.

  • Ensure quality, quantity, and completeness of assigned tasks.

  • Plan and schedule design tasks associated with assigned project.

  • Keep proper files and records related to assigned design activities.

  • Develop understanding of industry codes and standards.

  • Understand and use computer software applications associated with design assignments.

  • Continually upgrade knowledge and capabilities and pursue additional coursework and training.

  • Comply with company's safety awareness program, office, and/or field safety policies.

  • Develop an understanding of the role of each of the other disciplines in Engineering.

  • Conform to company core values.

  • Act with integrity in all elements of responsibility.

  • Express ideas clearly and listen effectively to the ideas of others.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in a Science Discipline or Computer Aided Design or Drafting or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of onshore oil & gas pipeline mapping or alignment sheet production experience.

  • Experience with 2D drafting AND 3D modeling.

  • Ability to process survey data.

  • Experience creating the pipeline centerline and delineating the working corridor (footprint).

  • Experience creating alignment sheets

  • Experience creating horizontal directional drill drawings

  • Experience creating road & railroad permit drawings

  • Experience delineating access roads to the pipeline corridor

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

  • Must be able to obtain Personal Identification Verification (PIV) which complies with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD‐12.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of onshore oil & gas pipeline mapping or alignment sheet production experience.

  • Parcel editing experience with GIS software.

  • Working experience and knowledge of Civil 3D, BSD Lightning, BSD Skyline, or New Century Sheet Cutter using ArcGIS.

  • Previous experience with civil site work, cut & fill, and drainage.

  • Previous experience as a mapping / drafting lead.
