Job Summary

AECOM is providing general engineering consultancy services for Coastal Road project in Mumbai. It has been proposed to construct a Coastal Road on Western side of the city. The proposed coastal road project (approximately 35 km) falls within Greater Mumbai district .It starts from Nariman Pointand ends at Kandivili. It is proposed to be extended further north connecting Madh Island, Gorai and Dahisar.

The Joint Technical Committee had studied concept of proposed Coastal Road and recommended about 35.6 km coastal freeway from Nariman Point to Kandivali comprising a combination of coastal roads based on reclamation, bridges, elevated roads and tunnels on western side of Mumbai to resolve the traffic congestion in Mumbai and to enable creation of the much needed recreational open spaces. AECOM is providing general engineering consultancy services for this project in Mumbai.

AECOM India is currently seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer for the above project. The responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Managing, planning, design and design reviews, reporting of projects, method statements.

  • Responsible for carrying out geometric layouts, horizontal and vertical alignments, pavement analysis, signing, directional signing, and marking Highway geometric and design including of all related street furniture.

  • Reviewing design and technical reporting.

  • Day to day managing and coordination of the road design team Engineering drawings, specifications computations, surveys and designs.

  • Preparing all other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

  • Preparing projects tender documents including front end documents, particular specifications, and BOQs Liaison, coordination and follow up with clients, sub-consultants & Prequalification and evaluation of contractors.

  • Traffic management during construction and construction phasing. Quantity take off, cost estimate, preparation of tender documents and particular specifications.

  • Providing technical guidance to Computer Aided Design(CAD) Designers/Drafters, Designers and lower level Engineers working on a variety of transportation projects.

  • Coordinating with the client and all concerned authorities.

  • Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

  • Acting in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • The successful candidate must have around 10 plus years experience in the field of highway and roadway design.

  • The candidate must be working as the Design Lead, incharge of highways and roadways from conceptual design through final design and development of construction documents and specifications, design guidelines is required.

  • Experience with highway design tools like MX/Land Development or similar computer tools.Familiarity with design standards like AASHTO & BS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Civil/ Structural/ Highways

  • Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Ability to establish and maintaining effective working relationships with staff/Team
