About the Business Line
Our talented experts are dedicated to managing the complexity inherent in construction projects, catering to each client’s unique needs. We provide services such as program management, construction management and owner’s representation to our clients around the globe.
AECOM is actively seeking a Director of Operations for immediate employment at a client site in the LA Metro area. The Director of Operations plans for and directs operations for a multi-billion dollar construction Program, providing operational and technical leadership for the following function teams project controls, risk, finance, accounting and procurement and support services. As a member of senior management, the Director of Operations ensures that a Program’s everyday activities run smoothly; sets parameters to judge how efficiently and effectively the organization is operating; and reviews business procedures for process excellence and interacts with the client’s senior management.
Oversight of project controls, finance & accounting, business systems, technology & support services
Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of Program mission -- specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning
Manage and support the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance & Accounting), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions
Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence
Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls
Monitoring of Program budgets and revenue margin management/monitoring
Lead regular meetings with executives about profitability and future fiscal planning
Develop technical standards and implement best practices
Responsible for effective project reviews and ensures quality assurance/control and compliance of SOPs
Program staffing, workload balancing
Functional Department Managers for Finance & Accounting, Technology, Program Controls & Support Services.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering or Construction Management required
10+ years of experience managing capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities
Proven record of profit management, financial management and business administration
Experience operating/managing computer-based accounting databases and financial reporting
Knowledge of contract management and alternative delivery methods for capital projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required as this role will include interaction with clients and the general public
Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style and commitment to get the job done
Ability to effectively prioritize, effectively delegate responsibilities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
Demonstrated knowledge of project planning and management skills, including development of metrics, goals and follow up reporting
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
Excellent computer skills and proficient Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
Professional license in state of California required
Experience working on large bond school programs
