Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Principal Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD) – Team Leader to join our team in Melbourne. You will be responsible for leading a team of Professionals to grow a sustainable and profitable business within the ESD discipline, through the identification of opportunities, strategic and successful proposal compilation to win commissions and the profitable delivery of projects. The Team Leader is responsible for mentoring and developing their team members to realise their full potential and obtain their full engagement in the business.

The ESD team is a small team of 9 collaborative, dynamic professionals working on large scale projects, and are very well respected within the wider AECOM business, both locally and across ANZ. The ESD discipline is part of the Buildings + Places Team, a vibrant and growing business line which delivers project management, architectural and engineering services as well as, fire engineering, acoustics, ESD, planning and economic analysis for a broad selection of built environment projects.

You will have;

  • Significant knowledge obtained in a related industry in a similar role

  • Solid experience and knowledge in Building physics including Energy and daylight studies and the application of relevant rating tools

  • Knowledge of relevant energy simulation software, eg. IES, Grasshopper, DIVA,etc.

  • Good understanding of the Australian Sustainability market

  • Good understanding of Building Engineering, including; building services, structural engineering, façade and architectural systems and the practicalities of integrating sustainable design initiatives into these disciplines

  • Experience with leading successful teams, mentoring and developing team members

  • Ability to undertake project and technical analyses and report on results

  • Strong communication and client facing skills. Able to present convincingly and clearly

Minimum Requirements

The Role

  • Create high performing, motivated and engaged teams via Performance Planning, Performance Management, appropriate Reward and Recognition, learning and development opportunities

  • Use building simulation and practical engineering and architectural knowledge to develop sustainable and innovative building designs.

  • Develop a strong client facing market presence within ESD markets and provide professional services to both our local and international clients

  • Lead Sustainable Development projects

  • Hands on ESD design for relevant projects

  • Contribute to the development of building designs, specifically in the areas of energy modelling, performance analysis, and sustainable building technologies

  • Lead and have the ability to carry out sustainability studies and assessments including:

  • Microclimate study,

  • Computational Fluid Dynamic simulation,

  • Energy simulations;

  • Natural and artificial lighting simulations

Preferred Qualifications

Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications or above in building physics, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or related disciplines
