Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to Project Managers regarding controlling project costs and meet cost reporting requirements for both internal project management and client reporting groups.

The Project Finance Representative is an integral member of both the Project Finance Team and Business line to which they are assigned, accordingly close working relationships with both these groups are critical.

The following responsibilities will be undertaken in this position.

  • Working closely in coordination with Group Leaders to keep them informed of the status of projects within the group, highlight concerns and develop solutions for any issues which may arise.

  • Monitoring and reporting on the overall financial position of the group, creating financial reports for the group leader monthly and additionally as required.

  • Working with Project Mangers to assist with development and coordination of project procedures to ensure the efficient cost control of projects, including the recording, controlling forecasting and reporting of all financial matters.

  • Manage project reconciliations and closures within ePM / oracle.

  • Monitor “Revenue Opportunities” and ensure minimised

  • Report to Group Leaders business line overhead spend, variances to forecasts and future requirements. This position will support the business line achieving overhead spend targets.

  • Prepare weekly project reporting including weekly issues Register

  • Prepare monthly financial performance projections for consolidation into the VSA results

  • Maintain revenue recognition Sox compliance for all projects

  • Assist other Project Services Representatives and business lines as directed by the VSA Finance Manager. It is expected that project finance representatives will rotate between different business lines periodically to help develop a complete understanding of the entire business.

Minimum Requirements

  • High level of financial/numeracy proficiency and understanding.

  • Fluent in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

  • Professional and pays attention to detail – responsible for own tasks and work.

  • Good analytical problem solving skills.

  • Approachable, good communicator (verbal and written).

  • Able to prioritise multiple tasks and be proactive in meeting deadlines.

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic – eager to learn and take on new tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle an advantage.

  • Previous experience with project accounting/cost control.

  • Experience in the engineering consulting environment.

  • Degree qualified in the field of Accounting/Commerce or similar
