The Civil Engineering Department of AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is actively seeking a Civil Engineer – Highways for immediate employment in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. Under the supervision of a Project Manager/Senior Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a Design Team responsible for the design of small to large-scale Highway Improvement Projects (bridge replacements, corridor projects, arterials, freeways, interchanges). The applicant should be able to demonstrate an established career in civil engineering specific to transportation related projects. Design responsibilities will include alignments, super elevation, cross-sections, drainage, stormwater management/best management practices, erosion and sediment pollution control (E&S), utilities, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic, Signing, Pavement Markings, Right-of-Way, and other tasks typically encountered on a highway design project.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Oversees the production of Roadway Construction Plans for projects
Provides technical direction to and mentors less experienced engineers
Ensures corporate quality procedures are followed
Meets client quality, schedule, and budget expectations
Interacts with clients and oversees sub-consultants
Assists Project Managers with various tasks including developing scope, schedule, and budgets for projects
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in transportation and water resources
5+ years of relevant experience
Candidate should be proficient with utilizing design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation/InRoads
Experience in multiple elements of civil engineering design related to highway projects including, but not limited to the following:
Plan and construction documents preparation (engineering analysis, plans, reports, specifications and cost estimate)
“Also” Plan development including Signing, Pavement Markings, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic and Right-of-Way
Grading and drainage
Stormwater management/best management practices
Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good analytical skills
Responsible for the effective management of own time and effort, in accordance with project priorities and objectives.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and oversee work of less experienced engineers
Professional Engineering Registration within PA
Experience with DelDOT, PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
