Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Exercise Physiologist in VA.

This is a full-time position; Monday - Friday between 7:30am and 5:00pm.

Trainer is responsible for providing personnel with physical and nutritional coaching, assessment and intake administration, as well as program administration functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform individual physical fitness and wellness assessments, determine exercise prescriptions, and design and monitor workout programs for a diverse population, including a variety of high risk clientele in accordance with the latest American College of Sports Medicine, Exercise Testing and Prescription guidelines.

  • Provide personnel with fitness center orientation sessions, specifically fitness equipment familiarization to ensure proper usage of exercise equipment, for example cardiovascular equipment such as treadmills and elliptical machines, as well as free weights and selected machines, such as Life Fitness and TechnoGym.

  • Provide individual officers with health and fitness consultation services, in particular, execution and interpretation of fitness testing and/or physical capacity profile (PCP) results to recommend beginning an exercise program.

  • Design and prescribe programs for injury prevention and/or corrective exercise guidance.

  • Provide Personnel Management administration for team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to pass a Security Pre-Screen and willingness to be submitted for a high level government clearance.

  • Academic degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Fitness Education, Sports Medicine, Health Promotion or related health field.

  • 3+ years of specialized fitness/health experience with expertise in specific type of exercise such as group fitness, personal training, or nutritional counseling.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with particular emphasis on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Database.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work related duties to include fitness and wellness assessments and consultations, fitness center orientations, and health and education briefings at multiple site locations.

  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of different individuals within the IC.

  • Certified Personal Trainer (Minimum of One Certification)

  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)

  • American College of Sports Medicine, ACSM

  • Athletics and Fitness Association of America, AFAA

  • Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches, CSCCA

  • The Cooper Institute, CI

  • National Academy of Sports Medicine, NASM

  • National Council on Strength and Fitness, NCSF

  • National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association, NESTA

  • National Exercise Trainers Association, NETA

  • National Federation of Professional Trainers, NFPT

  • National Strength and Conditioning Association, NSCA

  • Current CPR/AED certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Government Clearance

  • Certified Personal Trainer (Minimum of One Certification, per list above)

  • Nutrition Coaching/Counseling Certification (Minimum of One Certification):

  • Registered Dietician Nutrition (RDN)

  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified

  • Sport Nutritionist (C-ISSN through International Society of Sports Nutrition)

  • Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS)

  • Institute for Integrative Nutrition

  • Other nutrition certifications may be accepted based on individual discussion with hiring managers

  • Fitness Nutrition Specialist, NASM

  • Women’s Fitness Specialist, NASM

  • Weight Loss Specialist (WLS), NASM

  • Fitness Nutrition Specialist, ACE

  • Weight Management Specialist, ACE

  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 or Level 2 Coach (PN1, PN2)

  • Sports Nutrition Specialist (SNS), NESTA

  • Fitness Nutrition Coach (FNC), NESTA

  • Nutrition for Health and Fitness Certificate Program, CI
