AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist with a particular focus in hazardous materials storage, hazardous waste disposal, RCRA requirements and experience, solid waste management, storm and sanitary permitting requirements, SPCC regulations and environmental compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. The successful candidate will be part of the AECOM Environmental Health and Safety Staff.

As the Environmental Compliance Specialist, one has the responsibility to:

  • Coordinate and monitor environmental programs such as wastewater management, hazardous material management, hazardous waste management, pollution prevention and petroleum management.

  • Collecting hazardous materials and hazardous waste from generation points and transfer to Central accumulation areas

  • Maintain hazardous waste accumulation areas, maintain hazardous waste inventory and prepare all necessary requirements for waste transport

  • Visually inspect storage tanks and hazardous waste accumulation areas

  • Support safety-related functions as needed, such as hazard identification and analysis, policy and procedure development, and training

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret standards, professional journals, and technical procedures

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees. Strong writing and communication skills are a must.Ability to obtain professional certification or accreditation in discipline (CSP, CIH, P.E) is desirable

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Bachelors (B.S.) degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental sciences, engineering, or science-related field

  • 3 years’ experience in environmental compliance, environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, or related field. HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certificate is desirable.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles outside weather conditions, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
