We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

The Water Business Line of AECOM is seeking a creative, motivated and highly talented Americas Practice Lead / seller-doer to lead our water quality practice and support our water treatment and conveyance business in North America. The position is located in our office in Markham and will report to AECOM's water business line leader for Drinking Water. The Americas Practice Leader shall be responsible for driving the growth, strategy and sale of AECOM’s services along with the delivery of high quality margin from projects within the Water business line.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and growth of the water quality practice within AECOM in coordination with the Conveyance and Drinking Water Business Line Leaders by implementing strategic initiatives, development of client relationships and proposal leadership in conjunction with Regional Business Line teams and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Perform a variety of technical engineering tasks, including - but not limited to leading the development of major project proposals, directing project task leaders and technical specialists in the development and implementation of project scopes, budgets and schedules

  • Work to strengthen existing client relationships and build new client relationships to develop and secure future business opportunities/projects for AECOM

  • Responsible for building a high performing team by creating a work environment that supports teamwork and cooperation; and attracts, retains, develops and rewards talent

  • Provide direction and mentoring to the project team members enabling them to gain knowledge, skills and the ability to perform their roles

  • Engage with industry associations and leverage role to build relationships, develop AECOM as a leader in the water quality field and secure technical presentation speaking opportunities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline

  • 20+ years of consulting engineering design and technical management experience in municipal wastewater reuse

  • Or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer or have the ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Permitting and regulatory knowledge and experience related to the design and construction of water reuse projects

  • Ability to represent clients with the public as appropriate. Must have the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments for public and private sector clients. Must be capable of growing and securing business opportunities

  • Excellent leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to successfully manage diverse teams, and successfully manage/deliver project scope, schedule and budget

  • Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Work, Excel, Project and PowerPoint

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective, excellent client presentations and written report preparation, and demonstrated ability to communicate with, and coordinate technicians, engineers, discipline managers and project managers for the preparation of high quality work products in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and/or Ph.D in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline

  • Demonstrated client management skills

  • Successful experience in securing new business from existing clients and new business from new clients

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout North America
