Job Summary

​AECOM’s office in Markham, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Landscape Architect. The successful candidate will primarily service clients in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario and provide support to the Buildings + Places team in Ontario. The successful candidate will join an established landscape architectural studio that has a long history of progressive projects and inter-disciplinary collaboration.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Perform as lead landscape architect

  • Coordinate with client, municipality and internal staff

  • Develop business, attract new clients and retain current clients

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior landscape architecture design and technical staff; provide direction to help others meet objectives

  • Collaborate with management on preparation of project proposals; oversee landscape architectural development proposals and feasibility studies

  • Project Management of a variety of landscape architectural projects including client liason, account management and project finances

  • Project work to focus on transportation corridoors, streetscapes, facilities, urban public realm, and green infrastructure for both private and public clients. Projects could also parks, trails, site plans, waterfronts and support to AECOM`s diverse portfolio

  • Prepare creative and innovative plans and designs for clients including master planning, conceptual and detailed design, tendering and construction services

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution

  • 8+ years' experience in a progressively challenging and creative Landscape Architecture design role

  • Registration with OALA -Seal and Certificate

  • Design experience in areas of Canadian winter climates

  • Demonstarted knowledge of Ontario and Canadian Standards

  • Understanding of AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, Sketchup, and other artistic methods necessary to convey creative ideas

  • Demonstrated strong creativity in design

  • Experience with producing construction drawings

  • Demonstrated experience and aptitude designing soft and hard landscapes in urban settings, public and private developer initiatives, parks, open space and public area designs

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

  • Excellent time management and project management skills

  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures

  • Effective leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on P3 projects

  • International experience
