Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Senior clean water Hydrogeologist to join our Ontario Geosciences Team (Hydrogeology Group), based from our office in Markham, Ontario. This position will support our Environment Business Line. The focus of this group is physical / clean water hydrogeology (not remediation). The Senior Hydrogeologist will be responsible for supporting and growing operations of the Hydrogeology Group Practice Area across Ontario. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Being the Senior Technical Resource and Lead to a team of Hydrogeologists located in Markham, by reviewing reports, giving direction on work plans and offering solutions to technical challenges;

  • Overseeing the Clean Water Hydrogeology component of large and complex infrastructure projects, including directing work plans that include hydrogeological assessments, MOECC Permit to Take Water and EASR, construction dewatering, groundwater monitoring, geochemistry, Environmental Assessments, and/or groundwater modeling;

  • Managing projects and undertaking technical clean water hydrogeology work, in accordance with contract scope of work and budget, and to company, professional, quality, and legislative standards;

  • Monitoring project performance vs. budgets and developing strategies for corrections;

  • ​Identifying opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies, and add value to client service offerings;

  • ​Participating and/or leading internal/external Business Development activities including proposal preparation and budgeting.

The candidate will report directly to the Hydrogeology Operations Manager for Ontario, and will work collaboratively with other members of the Ontario Geosciences (Hydrogeology & Geotechnical) Team, external sub-contractors / consultants, clients, as well as Project Managers and Area Managers within other internal AECOM business lines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Hydrogeology;

  • 10+ years of experience in an environmental consulting, or engineering management company;

  • Currently registered with APGO (P.Geo.) and/or PEO (P.Eng.);

  • Experience with groundwater resources, hydrogeological assessments, MOECC Permit to Take Water and EASR, construction dewatering, groundwater monitoring, geochemistry, Environmental Assessments, and/or groundwater modeling;

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral;

  • Working consulting experience and knowledge of provincial and federal acts and policies;

  • Experienced in Business Development and developing / maintaining strong client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering or Environmental Science;

  • Solid technical skills and experience;

  • Established interpersonal and relationship building skills with a dedication to developing and maintaining lasting client partnerships (internally and externally);

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills;

  • Experience with groundwater remediation and Environmental Site Assessment projects an asset;

  • Proven strengths in becoming well integrated with a national group and collaborating in a team environment to develop, execute successful projects;

  • An energetic and enthusiastic coach / mentor to junior and intermediate staff;

  • Experience managing junior and intermediate staff is an asset.
