Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Manager for immediate employment in the Markham, Ontario office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in delivering multifaceted public transportation projects to local municipal and regional government clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams in completion of projects from inception to construction completion

  • Prepares correspondence, reports, proposals, expressions of interest, specifications and meeting minutes

  • Communicate with clients, agencies and project stakeholders

  • Perform business development and marketing activities to current and potential clients in order to generate future business

  • Complies with and oversees execution of company procedures in accordance with the AECOM Project Delivery System and Q-Dash (QA/QC program)

  • Manages project financial performance, monthly reporting and client invoicing

  • Manages project costs using Earned Value Management principles

  • Engages external sub-consultant and manages their work flow as needed

  • Develops project schedules using Work Breakdown Structure principles

  • Anticipates problems and proactively consults with others to identify the cause and remedies before they inhibit project success

  • Resolves controversies (i.e., conflicts with sub consultants, staffing issues with department mangers due to work flow priorities)

  • Interfaces regularly with the customer and project stakeholders

  • Evaluates workload projections and staffing requirements pertaining to assigned project

  • Delegates duties within the project team as necessary to assure compliance with project budget, quality, schedule and deadlines

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in managing public transit projects

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario

  • Valid Canadian driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 project scheduling software

  • Strong project management, technical and analytical skills

  • Strong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals

  • Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills

  • Experience managing TTC and Metrolinx design projects from inception to construction

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management techniques

  • Strategic, analytical, and practical thinker
