Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Operations Manager for immediate employment to manage the operations and performance of a design and consulting group of about 120 Architecture/Engineering employees/resources, working from a base office in Markham ON, providing operations and performance leadership to a $15MM+ business operating in the Buildings market. Main responsibility is establishing and maintaining financial metrics including outlooks, project development, project delivery, bidding and oversight management of all PM’s and delivery teams.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Building bench strength and structure to allow for significant growth over the next 10 years

  • In collaboration with the ABUL and the RBLL, and others drive the go/no go decisions making process

  • Meet with the Project Management resources to review all types of project financials including cost to date, procurement, change orders, EAC, predicted final profit and contingency, and margin distribution

  • Ensure adequacy and adherence to all safety programs on and off site our sites

  • Monitor cash flow on projects; meet monthly with PMs on billings and ARs; report to Area Finance Lead on cash management

  • Provide monthly forecasts (EAC’s) for projects

  • Monitor/manage project overhead cost including G&A, B&P and ODC costs within budget

  • Oversee PM’s including monitoring use of standard subcontracts, purchase orders, and ensures adherence to existing teaming agreements, prime agreements and subcontract agreements

  • Project management oversight, i.e. financial administration, schedule, forecasting and invoicing

  • Significant client interface, and key account management and oversight

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 10+ years of Building Engineering consulting, projects, programs, and contracts

  • P.Eng. license , in buildings related discipline

  • Operational leadership experience including a successful performance track record managing staff and P&L of $15M plus; strong financial administration skills

  • Strong understanding of risk-management issues and ability to assess, analyze, and make recommendations on risk issues

  • Excellent communications, teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of Building Engineering consulting, projects, programs, and contracts

  • Project Management Professional

  • Construction management experience with experience in design-build/PPP, alternative delivery

  • Experience with a cross section of Building client markets including municipal to federal governments, commercial, and industrial
