Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment in the Markham, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a key member of the mechanical design team responsible for design and construction of various facilities, current project requires occasional out-of-town travel

  • Provide conceptual design at the early stages of the project and develop the concept to high quality detailed design, coordinating with all disciplines

  • Design HVAC, Controls, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems

  • Perform Energy and HVAC calculations and analysis using industry programs (i.e. EE4, eQuest, Carrier HAP)

  • Perform calculations, conduct design drawing reviews, and field investigations

  • Ensure design conforms to all applicable codes and client standards

  • Write/ edit mechanical specifications

  • Travel to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports

  • Participate in business development and writing proposals

Project work will involve some travel within Canada and may involve some travel to the USA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario

  • Strong Consulting Industry background in Canada

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC hydronic systems, controls, co-generation systems and the like

  • Design knowledge in Plumbing and Fire Protection systems

  • Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment

  • Very strong communication skills, spoken and written; good presentation skills

  • Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical audience

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Must possess valid driver’s license and passport

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Carrier HAP

  • Working knowledge of the LEED rating system, or other green rating systems
