We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented CAD Technologist for immediate employment in the Markham, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural CAD drafting production for new facilities, renovation and rehabilitation projects including transit facilities, water & waste, commercial, institutional, industrial, municipal, higher education and justice facilities

  • Responsible for setting up and developing engineering drawing plans, sections and details in compliance with client’s CAD standard and protocol

  • Assist with planning and scheduling of design work

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that drawings are properly referenced

  • Calculate dimensions and quantities; prepare cost and material estimates; shop drawing review

  • Working on projects for clients including TTC, Metrolinx, IO, various regions, municipalities and others

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates or Technical degree in related field

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and Microstation

  • BIM certification

  • Technologist certification

  • Have a sound knowledge of structural detailing, and understanding engineering drawings and sketches

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with in-house engineers and inter-disciplinary CAD technologists

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microstation 3D experience

  • Working knowledge ofTTC and Metrolinx CAD standards

  • Experience in multi discipline design coordination

  • Related experience in shop drawing review and other structural design and construction review tasks is an asset
