About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
AECOM are currently looking to recruit a Senior Consultant to support the development of the stakeholder engagement services across the UK business.
This role will initially encompass activities across two key areas:
management and delivery of a range of stakeholder engagement projects, with a focus on pre-application consultation for infrastructure development projects; and
assisting with the growth of stakeholder engagement service capabilities across AECOM, with a focus on providing advice and support to project teams working in a variety of sectors across the UK.
There will also be a need to building relationships with key contacts across AECOM’s wider business to identify and develop opportunities for co-operation specifically with the transportation, water and power sectors amongst others.
Depending on the candidate’s interests and experience, there is also the potential for the role to evolve to encompass assistance in the growth of stakeholder communications and engagement capabilities for non-development related projects at AECOM. This could include support to projects in areas such as: climate change, public policy, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The person undertaking this role will be responsible for:
management and day-to-day delivery of stakeholder engagement services on a range of projects;
provision of specialist stakeholder communications and engagement input to projects being managed by other sectors of the AECOM business;
support in identifying new business opportunities for the provision of stakeholder engagement services and leadership of associated proposal development; and
take a leading role in the ongoing proactive promotion of the AECOM stakeholder engagement service to both internal and external target audiences.
The role is primarily to support the development of the stakeholder engagement services across AECOM’s UK business. We can be flexible on where the role is located as we will be looking to support projects run out of a number of offices including London, Basingstoke, Bristol, Leeds and Manchester. A willingness to travel to other AECOM and client offices to work on projects; build relationships and identify opportunities will be required. Some home working to maximise work efficiency and reduce time lost to travel can be included in the working arrangements.
The role will require the following skills and competencies:
Proven track record in communications, ideally delivering stakeholder engagement for infrastructure development projects or communication around complex environmental issues;
Experience of working in industry sectors relevant to AECOM’s business such as transport, energy, water, commercial development
Hands on experience of the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement and consultation strategies including innovative and value for money techniques;
Passionate about delivering best practice principles for stakeholder engagement;
Proven project management skills and the ability and a willingness to help others develop;
High standard of personal communication skills and confidence to engage with people in different sector disciplines, present to peers and clients, and communicate with technical/professional and community stakeholders;
Knowledge of UK planning and environmental policy developments related to stakeholder participation and engagement would be an advantage and willingness to travel and work flexibly.
A relevant degree in Environmental studies or Communications would be beneficial for this post although not essential.
