Position Title Senior Planner

Job Summary

The AECOM Planning team, covering the north of England and Wales is based in Manchester and Leeds.

The team has a broad range of clients and high profile commissions, and we are active across a wide breadth of planning-related discipline areas. We are looking to recruit three experienced individuals across the two offices who specialise in development management, planning policy and/or Sustainability Appraisal/Strategic Sustainability Assessment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Anticipate and respond to client needs and market sectors

  • Preparation of proposals

  • Act as Project Manager to determine team members, provide team briefing and manage commissions to appropriate level of quality, budget and programme

  • Prepare client reports and review work of more junior members of staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong experience of working within a team-based culture

  • Strong experience of planning policy development, community regeneration, development management and/or SA/SEA preparation

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Willing to get involved in SA/SEA and neighbourhood planning; and ideally, some existing experience in these fields

  • Understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of planning

  • Strong experience of either consultancy or local authority, and preferably, experience of both

  • Strong experience of Development Consent Orders, process and submission

  • Strong experience of community and stakeholder consultation exercises

  • Experience of working for either/or both local authority and consultancy

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will be Degree qualified in a relevant discipline

  • You will a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, MRTPI
