Job Summary

Will utilize your knowledge and expertise to design, develop, configure, administer and support a wide variety of desktop and server solutions. Will create and modify web applications using a variety of toolsets including JavaScript, Dojo AMD, HTML5, and CSS and utilize experience and judgment to troubleshoot desktop, web, database and servers across a wide range of environments and platforms. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Designing and creating application solutions.

  • Configuring, administering and troubleshooting server-side and desktop software and applications.

  • Performing system analysis and functional testing.

  • Producing and maintaining technical and help documentation.

  • Supporting user communities across various platforms and applications.

  • Working closely with clients and technical staff to develop innovative solutions that meet project requirements within budget and schedule.

This position can be located in any major metropolitan area.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must be hands-on, collaborative, technology-oriented leaders who are strategic thinkers and skilled in developing strategic plans, programs and accomplishing business objectives. Experience, skills and attributes include:

  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics or related field.

  • Seven or more years experience using, configuring and administering ESRI’s ArcGIS desktop and server solutions including ArcSDE and ArcGIS Server.

  • Proficiency in GIS application development including the ESRI suite of products.

  • Experience with relational databases and advanced RDBMS concepts including a working knowledge of MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

  • Proven ability and experience modifying and creating new web mapping applications using Visual Studio .NET, JavaScript, Dojo AMD, HTML5 and CSS.

  • Working knowledge of Windows Systems Administration and Web Servers including IIS and Apache.

  • Developing new and maintaining existing geospatial applications.

  • Proven experience in analysing, reviewing and revising programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt them to new procedures.

  • Assisting in the generation or installation of systems software.

  • Object oriented design skills.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming, systems analysis and computer operations procedures.

  • Solid experience in coding, testing and debugging computer programs.

  • Ability to identify software problems and communicate them to stakeholders.

  • Ability to learn new programming and scripting languages.

  • Skilled in problem solving and critical thinking with the proven ability to analyse problems and develop solutions.

  • Strong cross-group collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AJAX, JSON, JQuery, REST, SQL, Python, PowerShell, SSRS and SharePoint.

  • Specialized training and/or certifications in applicable programming languages and tools.
