Job Summary

About the Business Line – AECOM Enterprise Strategy

The Enterprise Strategy Group supports the development and execution of AECOM’s strategic vision. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Enterprise Strategy is tasked with leveraging market, client and operational data and insights to create a portfolio view for the organization and take a leadership role in identifying and executing against key strategic growth opportunities. Projects range from assessing global markets and developing market entry strategies to analyzing the profitability of businesses and supporting Operational teams in creating a more efficient and effective approach to project delivery to company-wide strategic planning.

Position Title – Vice President, Enterprise Strategy

Job Description

The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy is responsible for defining, supporting and executing the strategic vision and supporting the Enterprise priorities of the Executive Leadership Team. In this capacity, the VP is expected to work closely with Executive leadership to develop the overall Enterprise Strategic Plan, to provide market intelligence insights and guidance in support of overall Enterprise growth, and to support the Operating groups through Operational improvement projects. Additionally, the VP is responsible for developing and deploying high-performing project teams to partner with AECOM’s global Operating Groups and Functions in support of Strategic and Operational improvement initiatives. The VP reports to the SVP, Enterprise Strategy. The position is located at AECOM’s corporate headquarters in Los Angeles and may require some travel.


  • Build and manage executive relationships across AECOM’s global Operating Groups and Functions, establishing excellent working relationships with key stakeholders and Leadership

  • Understand the structure of the organization to interact with internal partners; manage the flow of information and contacts in / out of the organization based on a deep and strategic knowledge of the AECOM’s priorities

  • Identify, scope and lead Enterprise strategic initiatives (generally 3-4 at a time) in support of advancing executive leadership’s Enterprise priorities, including projects such as: analyzing new market opportunities, conducting operational turnaround activities, performing market sector portfolio assessments, assessing competitor and market trends, etc.

  • Develop and lead the annual Enterprise Strategic Planning process

  • Hire, develop and retain high-performing Enterprise Strategy staff, including managing budget and resource deployment against Enterprise priorities

  • Support Executive Leadership with analysis and presentation development for key executive meetings, including Executive meetings and Board of Directors

  • Support Corporate leadership by identifying and raising key operational and functional issues that are impediments to growth

Minimum Requirements

  • MBA, or equivalent advanced degree, from top tier program

  • 12+ years total work experience; Management Consulting or Corporate Strategy experience preferred

  • 8+ years of demonstrated strategic project delivery, 5+ years executive level stakeholder interfacing, 5+ years staff management required

  • Strong business acumen, robust research and analytics capabilities, exceptional organizational skills

  • A desire to provide executive-level support to a large, diverse and publicly traded organization

  • Proficient presentation and communication skills

  • Proven experience in driving enterprise-wide initiatives with clear results

  • Strong track record of structuring and delivering project work in a fast paced and high stressed environment

  • History of identifying, developing and retaining a high-performing staff and teams

  • Demonstrated capabilities in market research, financial analysis, strategic planning, competitor and pricing assessments and project management

  • Prior operational experience in EPC a plus but not required

  • Track record of promotions and increased responsibility
