Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Traffic Control Plan Coordinator for immediate employment for the Los Angeles, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Coordinate multiple daily, weekly, weekend and monthly traffic control needs related to LA Metro’s Purple Line Subway Extension Section 2 in coordination with the Advanced Utilities Relocation contractor, and Third Party utility relocation contractors and self-performing City of Beverly Hills (COBH) utility work forces

  • Attend and facilitate traffic coordination meetings with multiple contractors working in the same site at the same time. Provide over the shoulder reviews, drafted exhibits and maintained transportation departments informed of work impacting COBH and COLA

  • Assist in the development of traffic control plans and formal traffic closure requests for day, night and/or weekend work for the COBH, LADOT and LABSS to review, comment and approve

  • Coordinate the development of complex traffic control plans integrating multiple advance utility relocation contractors, COBH Fiber Optics and water division), City of Los Angeles (COLA) Council District 5 as well as the Segment 2 PLE design-builder (potholing, grouting, surveying, median removal, tree removal, etc.) work

  • Plan custom truck hauling routes and obtain COLA and COBH permission to deliver and remove construction materials from the subway station project sites and staging yards

  • Coordinate requests for “No Parking” limitations at city parking meters impacted by utility work

  • Review and coordinate updates on timely basis to messages on portable changeable message signs (PCMS) informing drivers of upcoming work, traffic restrictions, lane closures and durations of traffic impacts

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate temporary and semi-permanent bus stop relocations with LA Metro Bus operations, City of Los Angeles Dash, and other Transit Authorities with bus operations impacted by the project

  • Coordinate the approval and schedules for traffic control officers when impacting the subway station area intersections

  • Facilitate COLA approval to temporarily stage contractors’ construction equipment at local street parking meters in order to minimize time to mobilize and demobilize

  • Visit project site to resolve traffic control related issues, modify traffic plans, and confirm approved traffic control plans are implemented correctly in coordination with site inspection team

  • Work with the contractors to prepare specific traffic control plans to support the subway alignment along Wilshire Blvd. for water line tie-ins, hot-taps, line-stops, and water shutdowns that included day, night and weekend work without impacting the local business events

  • Attend bimonthly LADOT, LABSS and LA Metro traffic coordination meetings to address the local community’s needs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Traffic Engineering or related experience

  • 10+ years of experience in technical engineering related work dealing with highway and/or transit construction and the maintenance of traffic through work zones

  • Technical engineering experience in Los Angeles

  • Good communication skills; oral and written

  • Basic computer skills; MSOffice

  • Excellent time management skills; self-motivator, team oriented

  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance of traffic plans for construction projects

  • Assist in the development of traffic plans and obtaining approvals from local municipal jurisdictions

  • Working knowledge of highway and transit construction and traffic engineering principles

  • Knowledge of areas of design principles, traffic control procedures and construction practices

  • Proficiency in engineering principles, practice and methods

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Beverly Hills desirable
