About the Business Line


We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business is seeking a highly creative and collaborative Structural Engineer to join our Los Angeles office. The role is to support project teams developing integrated solutions for facilities, wastewater and water infrastructure, treatment plants, water resources structures, and other storage, occupancy and special purpose needs of our clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural analysis and design, including performance based design

  • Performing structural calculations, modeling and analysis to determine loading capacity and performance of existing and proposed new structures

  • Structural conditions and performance assessments and modeling for code compliance, due diligence, rehabilitation, expansion, retrofit and adaptive reuse

  • Working closely with other engineers, architects, planners and construction manager teams

  • Bid document and specification development for existing and proposed designs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Professional Engineering Registration

  • Experienced/college coursework in structural engineering design of reinforced concrete, steel, and timber

  • Experience in analyzing loads and forces, and designs or approves adequacy of supporting members, systems, and equipment for construction activities

  • Familiarity with design codes, building envelopes, hazard provisions and mitigation techniques including ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC Manual of Steel Construction, ASCE 7 and ASCE 41

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hydraulic structures, facilities and their seismic analysis
