Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Manager, Planning for immediate employment for the Los Angeles, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Analyzes planning projects related to transportation including land use policies, impact of projects and long-range planning needs

  • Defines regional and local transportation planning problems and priorities

  • Prepares reports, recommendations, assessments and impact statements on transportation planning

  • Leads the preparing of NEPA/CEQA documentation for complex transportation projects including bus, rail, highway and active transportation facilties

  • Analyzes data from modeling software, geographic information systems or associated databases

  • Collaborates with engineers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation and aviation design issues

  • May design transportation surveys to identify areas of public concern

  • May direct traffic counting programs

  • Participates in public meetings or hearings to explain planning proposals, to gather feedback from those affected by projects, or to achieve consensus on project designs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning, Urban Planning or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Advanced knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices and techniques of planning

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with elected/appointed officials or other decision-makers

  • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined planning problems

  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

  • Experience in preparing NEPA/CEQA documentation for complex transportation projects including bus, rail, highway and active transportation facilities

  • Good knowledge of budgeting and project management procedures

  • Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule

  • A desire to think creatively

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of research and statistical methods

  • Data collection, analysis, and presentation experience

  • Networking and relationship building experience

  • Proficient in GIS data development, analysis and programming with InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and other graphics tools to prepare maps, infographics, exhibits and charts

  • Experience with transit operations
