Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Architect for immediate employment in the Los Angeles, CA office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:­

  • Develop design and construction documents for projects with multi-discipline teams of architects, engineers and consultants for public and private clients

  • Oversee the work of less experienced architects and designers and be responsible for determining technical objectives of project assignments in conjunction with project management and senior design principals

  • Develop workable solutions to complex technical problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

  • Prepare program analysis, life safety code analysis, concept designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic design, design development and construction drawings and specifications

  • Adapt and modify design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations

  • Lead project team in the execution of design build and other public and private sector projects

  • Direct architectural design and production team to schedule, implement and coordinate preparation of design and construction documents to office and client standards

  • Coordinate architectural work with engineering disciplines both in-house and with consultants

  • Attend client presentation and progress meetings to communicate the design intent and review technical details of projects

  • Prepare and coordinate architectural details with other architectural team members for consistency with project design intent and office/client standards

  • Assist in the preparation of work effort estimates for architectural services for Requests For Proposals

  • Provide regular updates with department and project managers for schedule and budget compliance for architectural services

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture or equivalent required

  • Licensed as a registered architect, preferably in State of California or with the ability to obtain registration in California

  • 10+ years of documented, progressively responsible experience

  • Experience working on large Design Build projects

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Highly organized with strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Justice and/or Medical project experience desired

  • Experience with Microsoft Project scheduling application is desirable

  • Experience with e-Specs or AIA MasterSpec specification software applications desirable

  • Effective leadership skills

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of construction detailing and constructability­
