Our award-winning global information technology (IT) department is seeking talented leaders who can help further elevate our company’s performance.­ The IT department supports our internal employees, our client-facing projects and many of the technologies our clients rely on.­ We are tasked with delivering operationally excellent services; running projects that drive revenue, efficiencies and competitive advantage; and governing and securing our assets and data.­ This role, in particular, as a member of the CIO’s global staff, will help support many of the strategic efforts underway to support these mandates.­

We are seeking a Director, IT, Operational Performance and Vendor Management to work for our global Information Technology (IT) department.­ He/she will be a member of the global Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) extended leadership team with frequent interaction with CIO direct staff.­ The individual will focus initially on two things.­ First, tracking and benchmarking of IT’s global performance via dashboards and balanced scorecards to ensure we elevate our overall capabilities.­ Second, s/he will lead our Vendor Management Office (VMO) which will be responsible for tracking the performance, compliance and financial execution of our various suppliers and partners.­­ This is an excellent opportunity to work in the “front office” of an award-winning IT shop where the successful candidate will have tremendous future career opportunities.­

Specifically, this individual will:

  • Work closely with our IT Project Management Office (PMO), IT Finance team and CIO staff in preparing strategic plans and IT marketing material.

  • Assist the CIO and VP, IT, Office of the CIO in supporting key global initiatives for AECOM and the IT Department.

  • Support bids, pursuits to include assisting in bid responses and preparing client proposal presentations.

  • Prepare, track and report-out on operational performance of IT.­ Coordinate and track progress on improvement plans.

  • Migrate existing dashboards to a balanced scorecard approach.

  • Run our vendor management responsibilities which include:­ Monitoring supplier performance to SLAs and contract terms, risk management and mitigation, supplier compliance and more.

  • S/he will work closely with procurement on overall vendor relationships (new and existing), supplier strategies and to ensure we are leveraging our overall purchasing power.

  • S/he will work closely with our sales and business development teams where AECOM delivers services to technology providers (drive a “balance-of-trade” approach to doing business).

  • Stay appraised of and report-out on relevant trends and events within the technology vendor landscape that impact AECOM.

  • Assist the CIO and core leadership in presentation materials.

  • Own benchmarking data and periodic updates for use by the team.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in:

  • Working across global teams and multiple technology functions.

  • Communications – both written / presentation and verbal.

  • Standing up IT-enabled tiered service delivery models in large global companies.

  • Helping to sell and win work; sales and consulting.

  • Program and project delivery.


  • Bachelor’s Degree.­ Concentration in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Procurement or related field is preferred.­ Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively more challenging leadership roles in information technology and/or operations. Experience in delivery of professional services, and preferably in an Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) business is highly preferred.

  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills are mandatory.­ Strong executive presence.

  • Breadth of technology experiences across applications, infrastructure, cyber and information security, service delivery and technology trends such as social, mobile, analytics and cloud.

  • An aptitude and/or experience for / with procurement, legal and finance matters as the role will cross into all areas.

  • Global experience preferred.­ Proven ability to work with a distributed team.

  • PMP and/or Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.­ This role will be heavy on data, data analysis and statistics.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed, dual-report environment where not all resources are directly owned by you.

  • Experience in delivering process improvement initiatives and experience with business capability mapping tools such as process and value stream mapping, QFD and SWOT analysis, affinity diagrams and / or other related process-oriented tools preferred.

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.­ Knows how to “tell a story” and solve problems.

  • Good interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills

  • Attention to detail.­ Meticulous.

  • High level of proficiency in business computer applications including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

  • Willingness and ability to update Sharepoint and content will differentiate the selected candidate.­

  • Strong relationship building and consulting skills

  • High level of flexibility in working style and schedule

  • Periodic travel
