Job Summary


DUTIES: Plan, execute, design, and manage diverse and complex highway, bridge deck, and airfield construction projects. Perform pavement testing, evaluation and design for highways and airfield pavements using knowledge of pavement, construction materials, and geotechnical engineering principles. Perform data analysis from non-destructive testing technologies, including profilers, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and use empirical and mechanistic pavement analysis methods. Develop technical specifications and construction plans. Use design software, including AASHTO Guide for Design of Pavement Structures, DARWin, AASHTO Pavement-ME, FAARFIELD, MicroPaver, AutoCAD and Microstation. Prepare cost estimates and perform life-cycle cost analysis. Write project proposals. Maintain and build client relationships. Assist managers in monitoring and controlling of project schedule, cost, and scope variances. Participate in the execution and management of projects for multiple private and public agencies. Perform forensic investigations of premature pavement failures.

Minimum Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field and 6 years experience in the job offered or 6 years of experience involving: testing, evaluation, and design of highway and airfield pavement; data analysis from non destructive testing technologies, including profilers, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD); pavements, construction materials, and geotechnical engineering principles; construction management; and design software, including AASHTO Guide for Design of Pavement Structures, DARWin, and FAARFIELD. Position also requires 3 years of experience involving: project management; pavement management program for an airfield or highway network; forensic investigation of premature pavement failures; design experience including empirical and mechanistic pavement analysis methods; and preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates and performing life-cycle cost analysis. Position also requires applicant be a Registered Professional Engineer. Domestic travel may be required.
