Job Summary

Building Engineering business line is currently seeking a Public Health Engineer working for our Building Engineering division, based in our Bedford office. We have secured some world class projects ranging from Sports Stadiums in the Middle East, Hotel and mixed use complexes in Europe, International educational work plus work nearer to home in all the major sectors.

About the role:

The team are seeking a dynamic and forward thinking engineer to join the London office who can develop system designs from concept through to detail design, working closely with the design team to develop projects. You should have a good and proven track record of delivering a varied range of systems across multiple sectors.

Job responsibilities:

Be able to design and coordinate public health engineering services as follows:

  • Domestic hot and cold water systems

  • Above ground foul and rainwater system

  • Fire Protection Systems

  • Below Ground drainage systems

  • Pumped drainage systems

  • Rainwater harvesting and Greywater recycling systems

  • Water conservation solutions

  • BREEAM, LEED and Ska Rating design integration

In addition, experience/an understanding of the following systems would be an advantage:

  • Specialist (laboratory) drainage systems

  • Fuel gas systems

  • Medical gases systems

  • Medical vacuum systems

  • Solar thermal hot water systems

  • Borehole water systems

  • Water and oil leak detection systems

  • Sustainable drainage systems

  • Water usage audits

  • Specification and management of drainage surveys

  • Asset condition inspections and reports

Work closely with engineers in development of projects

Minimum Requirements

Previous building services experience, particularly with regard to Public Health engineering/Plumbing discipline.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Public Health engineering with a good understanding of UK building design codes/regulations.

Experience in residential, education, and commercial buildings.

Good communication skills, and able to work well independently at times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally Degree educated in Public Health/Mechanical engineering or related

  • You should also be a member of CIBSE SoPHE, having a chartership is also preferred but not essential.

  • Experience in Education, and commercial buildings, ideally in overseas markets

  • Have an understanding of sustainable strategies including water recycling options

  • Good communication skills, and able to work well independently at times.
