About the Business Line

AECOM are recruiting for an Electrical Engineer (T&D) to join our established and ever growing Transmission & Distribution unit based in our London office.
Our transmission & distribution unit provides management, design and supervision services to electrical power projects, in both transmission and distribution, with a primary focus on transmission projects. Our clients include all the major UK and Ireland transmission system operators. The unit also provides electrical engineering services to a wide range of renewable, industrial, property and other development projects requiring medium- or high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
This role is to be offered at either Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The role is also open to candidates with either transmission voltage experience or extensive working knowledge of distribution voltage systems gained through working in either another Consultancy, or a DNO, or a major industrial or similar company. In order to be considered for the Principal Engineer role, the candidate will need to demonstrate a successful track record of winning new business and successfully completing projects.
In addition to Electrical Engineer duties, the successful candidate will be required to manage a range of multi-disciplinary projects in the T&D sector. The size of project will initially be determined by whether the role is offered at Senior or Principal Engineer level, with the Principal Engineer having responsibility for large more multi-disciplinary projects. Responsibilities will include the client interface, preparation of bids and proposals and then managing the delivery of the projects in accordance with the company's quality, safety and environmental procedures.

The ideal candidate would have a recognised technical specialism in the high voltage transmission and distribution sector , where AECOM is particularly looking for skills in Distribution System Engineering, Protection Systems & Control or Electricity Market and Tariffs.
Transmission and Distribution is a growth area for AECOM and the Electrical Engineer can expect to develop their career as the T&D unit continues to grow. Business or man management opportunities are likely to emerge and the successful candidate will be able to take advantage of these.
You will ideally have:
• BSc /BEng Electrical Engineering (Hons)
• Chartered Engineer status or be on route to obtaining Chartered status
• Experience of working in the UK & international transmission and/or distribution sector
• Experience of medium and high voltage projects including feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, modeling, site supervision, testing and acceptance.
• Extensive experience at voltages up to 132kV is essential and and experience to at least 400kV would be an advantage.
Any or all of the following specialist skills would be warmly welcomed:
• High voltage cables
• Protection and Control
• HVDC applications
• Power system analysis (DIgSILENT, PSSe, EDSA, CDEGS, EMTP, CAPE, ASPEN etc).
• Regulation of electricy networks
• Power System Planning
