Job Summary

AECOM’s UK Environment team is looking to recruit an ESIA professional to join our London team. In particular, we are looking for an individual ideally with 3-6 years' experience working on ESIAs within the oil and gas sector, preferably on global projects with major global clients. The successful candidate will have a track-record of successful project delivery and client management, with strong technical skills. Past experience in direction and management of baseline studies and technical assessments completed by sub-contractors beneficial.

We are looking for someone that will be able to take a key project delivery role within a vibrant and diverse team; helping us to continue to deliver a high quality service to existing clients and to expand our market share in new and developing geographies and services.

Our UK Environment & Planning business comprises over 200 people across approximately 20 offices. In London and the South-East we have offices in Aldgate, Wimbledon, Croydon, St Albans, Cambridge and Basingstoke. We have over 100 ESIA practitioners and large teams of environmental specialists covering the full suite of technical disciplines such as noise, air quality, ecology, heritage etc. as well as specialists in international social assessment, Ecosystem Services and health.

We provide support to clients at all stages of the development process, including feasibility, optioneering, promotion through planning and project implementation.

Our ESIA teams often work very closely with our engineering and design colleagues, who are delivering the sort of exciting projects you would expect from a global environmental and engineering consultancy with a reputation for developing and implementing innovative solutions to the world’s most complex challenges.

We have an enviable client base which includes all of the major oil and gas companies, including BP, Shell, Exxon, TOTAL, ConocoPhillips, and Tullow Oil.

The following provides a sample of our recent and current projects:

  • Shah Deniz Stage 2 Project (terminal expansion, offshore platform, subsea wells and pipelines in Azerbaijan).

  • Shallow Water Absheron Peninsula Exploration Programme (seismic surveys in offshore Azerbaijan).

  • Buliisa Upstream Development (onshore oil well development near Lake Albert in Uganda)

  • South Stream (4 gas pipelines across the Black Sea between Ukraine and Bulgaria).

  • Deepwater exploration drilling offshore Suriname.

  • Offshore seismic survey in Mauritania

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following illustrative roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of and support in the delivery of ESIA projects to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard

  • Understand and implement project management principles and fully appreciate the need to work within project budgets

  • Assist in the project management and preparation of project documents including Scoping Reports and related technical studies in accordance with project timescales

  • Assist in the production of ESIA reports, and Non-Technical Summaries

  • Analyse data effectively and carry out desk based studies when required

  • Assist with the planning and execution of baseline surveys

  • Assist with the definition of scopes of work for technical studies and review of the completed studies

  • Participate in team meetings and other meetings as and when required

  • Prioritise project actions and meet commitments on an on-going basis while taking ownership and responsibility for the quality and completion of work

  • Assist in the production of ESIA Work Plans, Survey Execution Plans and other Project Management documents as required

  • Keep up to date with relevant environmental legislation, policy and guidance

  • Research issues as part of the ESIA process and to provide ideas, solutions and expertise to the ESIA team

  • Support business development through assistance with the production of Expressions of Interest and tenders, and to continuously improve our service offering for our clients

  • Understand and comply with quality and health & safety requirements and ensure these are addressed throughout a project

Minimum Requirements

  • Ideally a minimum 3 years' experience in ESIA and the oil and gas sector (although we are open to applicants with less experience)

  • Highly motivated and able to work with limited direction

  • Excellent technical and communication skills

  • Flexibility for potential international travel for short term assignments where required

Preferred Qualifications

You will have a good first degree and a second degree in an appropriate environmental, scientific or engineering discipline.
