AECOM has one of the world’s largest specialist Acoustics, Noise and Vibration teams and we are currently looking to expand the team by recruiting an Acoustics Consultant with previous relevant experience to be based from our office in Wimbledon.

As a member of our Acoustics team you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects including some of the biggest projects in the UK. Recent and current clients include HS2, Rolls-Royce, DEFRA, Nestlé and Shell.

The position will mainly be based in the UK however, there may be the need to visit sites across the UK and work away from home for short periods, including overseas.

The successful candidate will:

be expected to support the existing team by contributing to the acoustic input, predictions, modelling and report writing on a range of projects;

have a good understanding and practical experience of environment acoustics projects in particular, although a similar knowledge of building acoustics would be a distinct advantage;

be proficient with a range of software, including noise mapping software such as SoundPLAN, Cadna-A, and Microsoft Office;

be confident with a range of acoustics and vibration measurement and analysis systems;

be conversant with relevant standards and guidance, especially those relating to environmental acoustics;

have a thorough understanding of EIA process with regard to noise and vibration;

have proven report writing skills and good interpersonal skills;

be expected to liaise directly with consultees and clients; and

most importantly have enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a dedication to work as part of a team.

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role we're looking for candidates with the following:

Essential skills

Previous relevant consultancy experience in the field of environmental acoustics

Proven ability to deliver client expectations to budget and timescale.

Excellent technical report writing, personal organization and communication skills required.

Client liaison experience and the ability to communicate complex acoustic issues to non-technical people.

Candidate must be flexible and willing to undertake out of hours work on occasion and away from home for short periods of time.

Experience of acoustic prediction using both spreadsheets and industry recognized software.

Full clean driving licence

Experience in acoustics and vibration measurements

High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, able to work in a team and the ability to get on with others.

Desirable skills

Skills in geographic information system software packages particularly ArcGIS

Skills in computer-aided design software packages particularly AutoCAD

Industrial and building acoustics experience also an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally MSc/BSc in Acoustics/Noise and Vibration or associated discipline.

Preferably MIOA, but AMIOA considered

IOA Diploma in Acoustics advantageous.
