Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a HD Mechanic to be based in our Lloydminster, Alberta location.

This position repairs, overhauls, maintains and services diesel powered automobiles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, excavators and pickup trucks. This position diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.

May include the following responsibilities:Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery

  • Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed

  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes

  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks

  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators

  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains and services fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, engine control systems, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, installation and alignment of engines and machinery

  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains and services drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, vehicle brake systems, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering

  • Practices workplace safety

  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions

  • Determine extent of repair required

  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts

  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance

  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work

  • Service attachments and working tools

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

Minimum Requirements

A valid Class 1 or Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract are requirements of this position

Journeyman Certification

Lifting, pulling and managing equipment and tools.

The Mechanic will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.

Preferred Qualifications

Red Seal preferred or required by provincial regulations and standards.

CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) or PST (Petroleum Safety Training)

H2S Alive

First Aid – Standard Level

CSE (Confined Space Entry)

Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)

AWP – Aerial work platform
