AECOM is recruiting for a new project in South America entitled: Promotion of Best Environmental and Social Management Practices. The purpose of this activity is to facilitate multi-stakeholder agreement on Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the four priority sectors (hydro-power, roads, oil and gas, and mining), and then support the promotion, implementation, and monitoring/enforcement of these BMPs in the Amazon region. Countries of performance may include: Peru, Colombia and Brazil. All the below positions are technical with a strong preference for South American nationals from these three countries. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement for opportunities in Colombia and Peru. Brazilian Portuguese is a requirement for opportunities in Brazil.
The Hydropower Development Manager will manage and provide technical direction in measuring, monitoring, and/or mitigating the environmental (ecological, hydrological, biodiversity), economic, and social impacts from hydropower and in the Amazon basin.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with hydropower development, preferably in Peru, Colombia, Brazil.
Advanced degree in engineering, hydrology, or related discipline.
Practical experience on teams planning and designing hydropower development projects; negotiating voluntary standards; managing prior and informed consent processes; identification and analysis of environmental and social impacts; working with indigenous and other vulnerable groups; and developing and monitoring best practices.
Related experience in NRM and mitigation of environmental, social, and economic impacts, working with stakeholders to establish, manage, and monitor protected areas, biological corridors, and/or biodiversity offsets.
Technically conversant in environmental, social, and economic cost/benefit analysis; corporate social responsibility; private sector impact investing; and private sector partnership and investment.
Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese.
Multilateral donor experience.
Previous USAID experience.
