AECOM is recruiting for a new project in South America entitled: Promotion of Best Environmental and Social Management Practices. The purpose of this activity is to facilitate multi-stakeholder agreement on Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the four priority sectors (hydro-power, roads, oil and gas, and mining), and then support the promotion, implementation, and monitoring/enforcement of these BMPs in the Amazon region. Countries of performance may include: Peru, Colombia and Brazil. All the below positions are technical with a strong preference for South American nationals from these three countries. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement for opportunities in Colombia and Peru. Brazilian Portuguese is a requirement for opportunities in Brazil.
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist will manage and provide technical direction to EIA processes for the development of hydropower facilities, roads, and extractive industries such as mining, oil, and gas in the Amazon region.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant EIA experience, preferably in Peru, Colombia, Brazil.
Advanced degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
Practical experience measuring, monitoring, and evaluating environmental impacts; designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating environmental management plans and related mitigation measures; designing, implementing, and monitoring of offsets; and training and capacity building in environmental impact assessment.
In-depth experience in environmental analysis of hydropower, road infrastructure, mining, and oil and gas extraction.
Technically conversant in environmental, social, and economic cost/benefit analysis; managing and monitoring protected areas, biological corridors, and/or biodiversity offsets; and corporate social responsibility.
Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese.
Multilateral donor experience.
Previous USAID experience.
