Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Visual Examination Operator/Expert in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

The successful candidate will perform Visual Examination (VE) characterization process in support of the National TRU Program effort to remove waste from Oak Ridge National Laboratory to WIPP. Primary interface with vendor VE personnel as related to RH and CH VE Characterization for WIPP compliance: Assist Project Manager's and Site Project Manager’s in resolving Nonconformance Reports and Corrective Action Reports as applicable to VE Characterization.Assume responsibility for operation and maintenance of equipment and systems under direction of manager. Provide and maintain applicable operating procedures and initiate corrective action plans for plant equipment and systems problems. Provide operational support to other groups and report to management any issues or concerns related to integration of facility activities. Ability to perform in a dynamic work environment. Ability to support initial and recertification audit activities for Central Characterization Program at generator sites.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or

  • Associate’s Degree with four (4) years of experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) years of related experience.

  • Practical experience in performing VE in hot cell and/or glove box environments is required.

  • Basic computer skills are required.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years’ of Transuranic Waste Management VE experience for Expert Level.

  • Two (2) years’ performing Waste Examination VE for Operator Level is desired.

  • Familiarity with VE characterization processes, data review and validation.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (WIPP Waste Analysis Plan, WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria, and Remote-Handled [RH]/Contact-Handled [CH] TRAM PAC) for transuranic waste disposal at WIPP is preferred.

  • Experience working under a DOE Conduct of Operations Program and a DOE Quality Assurance Program is preferred.

  • Understanding of DOE configuration management requirements is desired.

  • Practical knowledge of the requirements to perform radiological waste work within a Documented Safety Analysis envelope.
