Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is recruiting for a senior environmental engineer working in a thriving team in Aecom’s Leeds office which provides advice to industrial, infrastructure and public sector clients for the management, reclamation and re- development of brownfield land. The position requires a combination of skills in technical assessment and delivery, project management and mentoring of junior staff.

Responsibilities include:

Being responsible for own health and safety and required to keep up to date in the application of in-house health and safety training, risk assessments and mitigation. Also required to mentor junior staff as to health and safety requirements.

Undertaking desk studies, designing and supervising investigations, carrying our risk assessments, remediation option appraisals and design and specification of remediation processes

Managing projects: programme, budget, invoicing and project close out using the in-house system

Initiating, maintaining and promoting effective communication with in – house and external clients depending on project requirements

Reporting to the team leader on technical and financial progress of managed projects

Minimum Requirements

Extensive experience, including most of the following areas:

Project management

Phase 1 and Phase 2 brownfield / contaminated land project experience (development and industrial clients);

Site management of site investigations and remediation projects;

Human health and controlled waters risk assessments;

Design and supervision of remediation systems such as bioremediation, soil stabilisation, soil vapour extraction, in situ groundwater treatment;

Hazardous waste classification;

Leading regulator negotiations;

Environmental permitting (IED, H1 impact assessments, Site Condition Reports, and Permit Surrender);

Supervision of demolition / site decommissioning;

Preparation of ground conditions and waste chapters for EIAs (including large transport / infrastructure projects);

Experience of working on multidisciplinary projects e.g. working alongside geotechnical / civil engineers, ecologists, hydrologists, archaeologists, etc.

Experience as a remediation site manager, remediation contractor supervision

Experience of mentoring and managing junior staff.

Preferred Qualifications

BSc. Geoscience / environmental science / Geo-environmental engineering background;

Masters. MSc or M.Eng environmental science / pollution control / contaminated land management /geo-environmental engineering

Chartered with a recognised institution: C.Geol, C.Eng, C.Env., C.Sci
