Job Summary

The Design & Consulting Services Division of AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect for immediate employment in the La Jolla, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

Our expertise includes workplace strategy, economic and development planning, master planning, urban planning, architecture, interiors, building engineering, and landscape architecture. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Independently prepares designs, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings

  • Develops concept and design documents in 2D and 3D environment

  • Coordinates with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines for comprehensive building designs

  • Oversees work of less experienced architects, designers and CADD Technicians

  • Resolves issues or problems concerning conflicting design requirements, specifications and/or difficult coordination requirements

  • Reviews plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications according to the contract documents

  • Coordinates and prepares deliverables for submittal to clients

  • Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work

  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture

  • Registration as a Registered Architect (RA) in California

  • 10+ years of design experience in which includes design of new facilities, restoration or renovation projects, and design of government facilities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and coordinate project requirements in a larger department of supporting skills

  • Communication skills to clearly convey project information to internal and external clients

  • Motivated team player with excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years' experience

  • Experience with LEED sustainable designs and developing documents in BIM environment is strongly desired
