AECOM is seeking Industrial Maintenance Mechanics for a pharmaceutical complex in La Jolla, CA! Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday; various hours may be required based on business demand.
These positions are responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in interpreting and responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing emergency and preventive maintenance and repairs on the mechanical facility systems and equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing / research and development environment.
Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, etc. in an industrial environment. Strong mechanical/electrical skills are required, including the ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V. May perform machine repairs and general non-licensed maintenance work, as well as support other licensed trades as directed. Requires good working knowledge of all types and applications of equipment pertaining to maintenance and operations for assigned area, and the ability to work within machine tolerances. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication.
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanics must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Operates, maintains, and repairs all facility and production associated equipment in compliance with all company regulations and standards.
Analyzes equipment failures, inspects, replaces, alters, and maintains in good repair all building and production services and related equipment.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs facility mechanical systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; conveyors; and associated fixtures and equipment.
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
Troubleshoots and repairs blowers and fans.
Troubleshoots and repairs commercial doors, including those made by Rytek, DoorMan, Mega Door, DynaCo Doors, and similar manufacturers.
Troubleshoots and repairs heat exchange equipment.
Performs basic pipefitting repairs.
Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical issues.
Assists in the movement of machines/fixtures, materials, and equipment as required.
Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical systems control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Five years of experience performing mechanical facility maintenance in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified applicants offered a position must be able to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
Qualified applicants must submit to and pass a Tuberculosis test prior to employment, or be medically cleared for Tuberculosis by a medical professional, and be able to maintain annual negative results.
Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Associates degree in Industrial Mechanical, HVAC, or related skilled trade.
Experience with building mechanical equipment operation, diagnostics and repairs.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on facility related equipment.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing large commercial or industrial HVAC/R equipment.
Experience maintaining basic plumbing needs.
Experience working safely with 480 volt 3 phase electrical systems.
Experience performing basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Working knowledge of all types and kinds of hand and power tools, air measuring instruments, various refrigeration equipment, various electrical meters, meggers, and shop equipment.
Experience using basic computer skills.
Experience working in a CMMS environment.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
