Position Title Assistant Construction Manager (Contract)(Based in Sabah)

Job Summary

  • Assist the Construction Manager in his/ her duties.

  • To liaise with the Construction Manager and other team members to oversee the daily management, coordination, supervision and successful completion of the assigned project.

  • To create, update and maintain a variety of project controls that track the status of individual tasks, changes to project, RFIs, shop drawings and submittals, matters involving quality controls, safety & health, financial performance, close-out and other aspects of the project.

  • To analyze reports and create priorities to prevent delays to critical activities within the project.

  • To work the project technical team to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process.

  • To manage the change management process.

  • To establish, monitor, communicate and maintain project schedules.

  • To assist in negotiating and/ or supporting the process of negotiating contracts, subcontracts and other purchase orders.

  • To assist in ensuring that all aspects of the project are compliant with all contract terms and legal requirements that govern the project.

  • To participate in activities that is related to the project close-out to ensure timely project completion.

  • To assist with the evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing canal & marine work/ dredging & reclamation /infrastructure/ utilities/ road & bridges/ park & landscape works;

  • Must have a good understanding of construction means and methods;

  • Must have good understanding of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) requirements;

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English;

  • Good interpersonal skills in managing a team of site personnel, contractors and sub-contractors;

  • Must be proficient with the regulations of the local authority and other relevant compliances;

  • Must be willing to be based on project sites;

  • Must be attentive to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognized Degree of in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
