Job Summary

  • To advise the Client and make recommendations on the suitable tree species to be preserved.

  • To prepare the tree inventory and tree risk evaluation report.

  • To carry out on site assessment using Visual Tree Assessment (VTA).

  • To prepare Economic Valuation report.

  • To prepare submission report including the recommendations on methods for preservation.

  • To prepare submission of the report.

  • To coordinate with other consultants and take necessary actions when required.

  • Performs professional tree, shrub and flower work, and instructs tree trimmers and park groundsmen; does related work as required.

  • Assigns, instructs and directs tree trimmers and park groundsmen

  • Directs tree spray programs

  • Oversees the planting, pruning, topping, felling, cabling, and climbing of trees

  • Plans, plants and maintains all flower beds

  • Operates power saws and spraying equipment

  • Inspects trees, develops a tree inventory and determines appropriate action

  • Advises and assists in turf management program

  • Lays out jobs and estimates manpower and equipment needs

  • Recommends new equipment and requisitions supplies

  • Prepares information for budget requests

  • Maintains records and reports for arborist maintenance program.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to supervise and train employees in all aspects of tree climbing, workplace safety, equipment operation, and technical rigging for removal.

  • Ability to climb trees and knowledge of industry standards for tree-climbing techniques.

  • Records maintenance skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of ropes and rigging techniques.

  • Knowledge of tree pruning, dead wooding, cable-bracing, utility clearance, removal, and repair techniques.

  • Knowledge of fertilizer and/or pesticide applications.

  • Knowledge of local plant materials.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.

  • Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants.

  • Knowledge of horticultural practices, plant taxonomy, and insect/disease control.

  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools applicable to trade.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of tree maintenance and arboriculture

  • Knowledge of pesticides and their application

  • Knowledge of the safety precautions of the trade

  • Ability to identify tree species, flowers, common insects and diseases

  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools applicable to trade.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must possess either of the following:
  1. a recognized Degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Urban Forestry or closely related field; or

  2. an Associate's Degree in Forestry, Horticulture or Urban Forestry or closely related field and with minimum two years of working experience in tree work including climbing and spraying trees; or

  3. has Completed a High School Level Vocational Course in tree work and four years varied experience in tree work including climbing and spraying trees; or

  4. has a Satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of a), b) and c) above.
