Job Summary

AECOM is providing general engineering consultancy services for Kolkata Metro Rail project . With this win, AECOM becomes the only consultant to be associated with all the metro projects in the six Indian cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

As the general engineering consultant, AECOM will be working on design review, technical specifications, system integration, procurement, construction supervision, project management, tender and award of contracts, contract administration, station and depot architecture, civil and interface management and testing and commissioning.

AECOM India is currently seeking an Environment Manager for the above project. The responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Ensure high standards of Safety and Environmental Issues during the construction of Metro Stations Buildings both elevated and underground.

  • Following SHE Condition of Contract, BOCW Acts, Rules 1996 & 1998 and OSHA standards,

  • Should have knowledge of national building codes 2005 & NFPA Standards, CPCB rules and other relevant statutory rules and legal requirements applicable.

  • Liaise with Client, Contractors, Govt Officials, interest groups and the GC Management relating to environmental issues arising from this project.

  • Familiarize with the EIA requirements for this project and implement those requirements during the construction phase of the project.

  • Focus on occupational health based issues encountered handling with Cement, Chemicals/ Paints/ Solvents /Liquids (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), Dust, Noise, Vibrations/ Emissions, Food and hygiene, Hazardous; Bio-Medical & Food waste etc.

  • organize and attend monthly Safety Committee Meetings and to attend clients Weekly Meetings. Prepare and submit monthly Safety & Environmental reports.

  • Monitor the Contractor's performance in complying with the Contractor's Environmental Plan.

  • Review all environmental related documents as submitted by the contractors

  • Provide advice to the Client, the GC and the Contractor in connection with any matters relating to environment issues

  • Implement the requirements as required in SHE Requirements.

  • Provide all necessary reports relating to environmental issues to the Clients and the GC

  • Attend meeting the Client, the contractors and the GC meetings as and when required.

  • Carry out the works as directed by the PMs and PD

Minimum Requirements

  • The candidate should have minimum 10 years of experience in HSE and at least 5 years of experience in metro projects.

  • Bachelors in Technology and Diploma in Industrial Safety.

  • Experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Mitigation etc. for infrastructure development projects including power.

  • Extensive People Management skills, able to communicate and lead a multi-faceted team.

  • Strategic orientation skills with the ability to problem solve and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of AECOM and the Client
