Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer for immediate employment for the Kelowna office.The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities

  • Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities

  • Perform constructability reviews

  • Perform construction inspections

  • Lead construction contract administration

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Prepare construction cost estimates

  • Prepare project specifications and contract documents

  • Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 5+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, contract administration.

  • Experience with municipal water, wastewater or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure

  • Expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers

  • High level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eligible for registration as P.Eng

  • MMCD Contract Administration certification

  • Training and experience in project management

  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
