AECOM is seeking an Operational Safety Specialist to be based in Jersey City, NJ at the Hudson Bergen Light Rail project location
Under direct supervision, performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of operational,health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
Assists in monitoring hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
Participates in recommending improvement in processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards.
Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene,or demonstrated equivalent combination of experience and skills.
This is an entry-level position
Candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License, with no suspensions or moving violations within the last 3 years.
A Certified Drivers Abstract is required to validate driving records.
Some operational safety experience preferred
OSHA 30 Hours preferred
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Relocation and per diem support are not available for this position.
This position does not include sponsorship for Unites States work authorization.
Must attain STS certification within six months of hire
This position will be required to work weekends and some nights.
Selected candidates must successfully complete and pass Drug and Alcohol Testing, Agility Testing and Background Screening before starting.
